About

Thompson Smith is an automotive and radio control enthusiast that loves graphic design. As the Art / Creative Director for Roversmagazine.com  and Rovers North, he keeps himself busy in the Land Rover automotive parts world. A native Northern Californian, Thompson resides with his family in South Lake Tahoe, CA.

In the 1980s, Thompson studied Art and Design at San Jose State University Graphic Design program at night while also working during the day to fine tune his drafting techniques using Rapidograph pens, and CAD drafting with an environmental engineering firm. In the 1990s as the Art Director for Grant Wolf in Lake Tahoe and through the 2000s, Thompson's passion for graphic design led him to create corporate identity logos, websites, illustrations, print, advertising and automotive racing graphics — several major bicycle and automotive racing companies still using the same logo he designed 30 years on.

Thompson has created and designed advertising for clients in magazines such as Architectural Digest, The DuPont Registry, Bicycling, Mountain Bike, RC Car Action, FLY RC and many other enthusiast publications. Specializing in design, Thompson focuses his experience on website design, logos, print, promotional gear, T-Shirt designs and posters for the automotive and radio control industries. Some of his clients have included; Audi quattro Club USA, Porsche Club of America, Vermont SportsCar, GM Racing USA RC parts, Litespeed Bicycles, Vittoria Bicycle Tires and Graupner RC products.

Designing websites

Thompson creates websites for clients to help their mission with responsive designs on the latest platform that include his artistic flair. Years of graphic design experience, photography, expert typographical knowledge and coding experience create the complete high-quality package.

If you need an eCommerce store to sell products, looking to start a new company or re-design an old website up to new standards, send us a message to get started on your next website project.

Enthusiast in the making

Thompson owes his passion and enthusiasm of racing and Porsches to his father who taught him how to drive and race a Porsche 911 and experience crazy cool places (left: 1971 Laguna Seca raceway) and to his grandfather, who fostered scale model building, taught him about high-fidelity audio and the inspiration to flourish into the artist he's became today.

Thompson loves skiing, mountain biking, camping, exploring BLM land, building award winning RC cars, custom scale RC graphics, RC racing boats, scale sailplanes and custom one-off scale slot cars. He still enjoys illustrating automotive racing art with Rapidiograph pens.
